Chiropractic care is a proven, safe, and effective treatment for most musculoskeletal conditions typically experienced by workers who suffer from workplace injury. While commonly associated to the treatment of back related pain, chiropractic care is also effective in the treatment of injuries and impairments experienced in the extremities as well. It compliments and is often utilized in conjunction with other forms of treatment, such as Physical and Occupational therapy, but can be utilized as an effective stand-alone treatment choice.
Many types of injuries and conditions which affect the muscles and joints of the body are effectively managed through Chiropractic care. For example, a client may have suffered from an acute injury on a specific date or from repetitive overuse of the body over time, causing progressive symptoms and impairment. The list of possible symptoms and experiences are numerous but often include pain, muscle tension, spasm, swelling, numbness, tingling, loss of motion, strength, stamina, and function. Your Chiropractor is uniquely trained to diagnose, treat and manage these injuries.
To begin, the nature and cause of the injury is established and detailed in the Report of Accident (ROA) which gets submitted to Labor & Industries to initiate a work injury claim. The physical status and capabilities of the worker is also determined during the initial visit. If physical impairments are present, work activity restrictions are put in place and communicated to the claim manager through completion of an Activity Prescription Form. This information is then shared with your employer. Frequently early return to work is obtained through light duty options and job modifications provided by your employer, and time loss is avoided. Restrictions or modifications may include limitations of lifting, bending, standing, reaching, or reduced work hours, etc., and as the worker recovers through treatment, their modifications and restrictions are adjusted accordingly until the patient is working at full capacity.
“Chiropractic treatment restores proper motion and function to injured joints of the spine and extremities relieving pressure not only within the injured joint(s) but also in the soft tissues which surround and support the joint(s) involved,” explains Dr. Marson. “My goal is to help the injured worker return to their work of injury at full capacity as quickly and safely as possible, while reducing the likelihood of aggravation or re-injury.”
For the first time Chiropractic care is being offered at NWRTW, providing injured workers an additional treatment resource. Schedule a consultation today with Dr. Marson and begin your journey to returning to work at your fullest capacity!
