June is National Safety Month
Observing National Safety Month is about working together to highlight leading causes of preventable injury and death so people can live their fullest lives. Preventable injuries, commonly known as “accidents,” are the fourth leading cause of U.S. deaths. This is why the National Safety Council (NSC) works to highlight pressing safety topics with information for both on and off the job. Each week businesses are reminded to work on the following:
- Emergency Preparedness
- Slips, Trips and Falls
- Heat-Related Illness
- Hazard Recognition
According to Injury Facts, preventable workplace deaths totaled 4,472 in 2021, and work-related medically consulted injuries totaled 4.26 million in 2021.
Safety is everyone’s responsibility and employers must provide a safe work environment, as well as financial support, management oversight, PPE, tools, and training for workers to do their jobs safely.
Together, these elements are part of a greater safety management system that aims to continuously identify hazards and reduce risks to an acceptable level.
At Northwest Return to Work we take the safety pledge very seriously because when someone is injured at work, we are there to help them get back to their life as quickly as possible.
